...well, the Salt Lake City Mission really, really, really needs your help. I met with Pastor Wayne and his wife again today and as we were talking they mentioned that on Christmas Day they have over 1000 children show up for their annual Christmas dinner. Well, we all know what happens on Christmas and wouldn't it be nice if these children received presents? We can help make that happen. I have decided to spearhead a toy/present drive for them. I would absolutely love NEW TOYS; however, if you have old toys that are in good, working conditions, we want them too.
Here are a few things to remember:
1-Homeless kids do not have a place to call home, therefore, they don't really have anywhere to put the toys. Small toys that are easily transported are the best. Maybe a backpack with small toys and books?
2-Homeless kids don't have many clothes. How nice would a new outfit be?
3-Homeless kids might just love a cute pair of new boots or shoes.
4-When we think of kids we think little kids. What about the teens and the pre-teens. What would they want?
5-People love presents and love opening presents...the Mission would also love some wrapping paper and some tape.
As always, blankets, coats, boats, and warm winter wear are always welcome. I want to thank everyone who helped out with the blanket drive and I know there are a few of you that still have stuff, please let me know what I can do to help get them to me so that I can take them to the Mission.
Anyway, I know that there are a lot of you out there that have your favorite charity or you already donate Christmas to a family. Maybe you could go without that latte or maybe have a family game night instead of renting a movie on demand. I don't know but I am sure everyone can scrape up an extra ten or twenty dollars to help give someone with nothing a Christmas.
You can drop the gifts off at my office or you can call me and I'll figure out a way to pick them up.
